Service Over Self is an organization whose mission is to provide safer, warmer, and dryer homes for the people in the neighborhood of Binghampton. This is a low-income community with many families that are struggling to meet everyday, practical needs. Our role at SOS is to serve this community through a variety of home repairs including roofing, demolition, remodeling, painting, drywalling, and siding. When we arrive, we will be split up into small groups and assigned a worksite that we will be serving the entire week -- both with the physical work we will do and the relationships we will form along the way. It’s an amazing week of work, worship, and fun. It’s definitely an incredible opportunity that you won’t want to miss! We plan to load vans at 6am and leave by 6:15am (SHARP) after prayer and group photo on Sunday, June 7 and return home on Friday, June 12 around 6pm to 8pm.
Cost: The cost for this trip is $350. We are asking for $50 nonrefundable deposit upon
registration and the remaining amount must be submitted by March 1. To ensure
that we are the best stewards or our resources, registration will be open for
this trip for a short period of time. Spaces are very limited, so don’t wait to
sign up!
Registration: Go to www.quakeyouth.org/registration to register.
Registration will be open and active on February 1 at 8:30pm. If registration is
full, please email mark@ourcornerstone.org
to be put on a “waiting list.” If we have extra spots, we will contact you and
let you know that you have been moved from the waiting list to an officially
registered participant and at that time, you will need to make a payment for
the trip.
Paperwork & Meeting: We will send out paperwork to registered
participants as soon as it becomes available. All completed paperwork must be submitted by May 1.
We will have a mandatory
mission trip meeting on May 1 at 5pm in the Cafe (the day
after all paperwork & payments are due). If you are in need of a partial or
full scholarship, please reach out to Mark Confer we will happily make it
happen!
If you have to back out of
the trip: If for some reason
you can no longer attend, please let us know immediately. Your $50 initial
deposit is nonrefundable, however any additional funds that have been submitted
towards your final cost will be returned in case of registration cancellation
if we have another person to fill the spot.
